Jarvis Ontario is a small quiet community located at the crossroads of Highway # 3 which runs from Windsor to Fort Erie and Highway #6 which runs from Port Dover to Tobermory. Despite it’s prominent location, just 20km north of Port Dover, Jarvis is still a small town of approx 1600 residents.
Jarvis is the main community near the Nanticoke Industrial Park on the North shore of Lake Erie, home to Ontario Power Generation which was at one time the largest coal-fired electrical generating station in the world. The Industrial park is also the location of U.S. Steel (Lake Erie Works), Esso Oil Refinery, Air Products, Charles Jones Industrial and several others. There is plenty of room for new industry here.
There are another 64 businesses serving this community outside of those in the industrial park. You wil find many of the busineseses in Jarvis, and links to their webpages, listed on this site.
Jarvis is proud to be home to world class softball diamonds located in the Jarvis Lions Park and adjacent to the Jarvis Lions Community Centre. In 2009, the Jarvis Lions Club completly renovated the complex with financial help of a Trillium Grant and local companies. The renovations on these diamonds were made necessary by the level of use and the calibre of ball being played on them. Currently, Jarvis is the part time home of the two-time defending ISC World Champions, the Jarvis Travellers/Merchants.
In recent years the Eastern Canadian Champions, the Jarvis Rock, the 3-peat Canadian Champions, the Jarvis Juniors and countless O.R.S.A teams have called Jarvis their home. There are 150 children registered to play fastball in Jarvis this year!
Jarvis is a strong community because of its volunteers and the service clubs. The Jarvis Lions, Masons, I.O.O.F. Lodge and Jarvis Fire Fighters all serve this town. All contacts are listed on Community Service page.
There are 5 denominations of Churches to serve the pastoral needs. All locations are listed on the Community Service Page for your reference.
Come visit Jarvis any time. We would be glad to see you and show you around.
