Many of the historic homes were built after 1873. Most of the town’s restaurants and shops are clustered around the intersection.
Jarvis is a small community in Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada. Jarvis is located near the towns of Simcoe, Townsend, Cayuga, Port Dover and Hagersville. It is located at the crossroads of Highway 3 and Highway 6.
During the second world war an airstrip and bombing range was constructed in Jarvis for training purposes. In 1955, the runway was converted to an automobile race track called Harewood Acres. In its time, it was one of the premiere road race courses in North America. In 1970, the site was sold to an oil company and turned into a refinery, which remains there to this day.
